What is Ferro Silicon?

Ferro Silicon is an iron-silicon alloy produced in submerged arc furnaces by reducing quartz with coke in the presence of iron. It is one of the most widely used ferro alloys in global steel and foundry production.

As a deoxidizer and alloying agent, FeSi improves steel strength, hardness, and resistance to corrosion and heat. In cast iron production it acts as an inoculant, improving graphite structure and mechanical properties.

01

Steel Deoxidation

Removes dissolved oxygen from molten steel, preventing porosity and improving final product quality.

02

Alloying Agent

Enhances tensile strength, hardness, and high-temperature resistance in structural and tool steels.

03

Cast Iron Inoculant

Controls graphite morphology in grey and ductile iron, improving machinability and impact resistance.

04

Silicon Metal Production

Used as a source material in chemical and semiconductor-grade silicon refining processes.
